Ode to Huron

Installation completed Fall of 2025. This work was placed within the new “Barton-Bandemer Pedestrian Tunnel” in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This tunnel serves as a pedestrian crossing below the Amtrack train rails for safe travel between Barton and Bandemer parks.

“River Rhythms: Ode to Huron” is an art piece inspired by the natural beauty and serene flow of the Huron River, a significant natural landmark in the Ann Arbor area. Designed to capture the true essence of the river’s movement, activity, and flora and fauna, these pieces bring a touch of the natural world into the urban environment of the pedestrian tunnel. Merging paths of persons with phenomenon. Conveying the tranquility and pure life within the Huron River, native animals and plants all are shown within this design, as they coexist and form a peaceful, intricate ecosystem. Different types of fish, turtles, herons, beavers, insects, and people are all represented here. Providing pedestrians with a moment of peace and connection to nature as they pass through the tunnel, and read the story of our river. The story of love, home, community, and place.
